I've suddenly realised how quickly Christmas is coming and so I've decided to get cracking on making my Christmas pressies. My grandma (Bubbub, you may remember) has requested a home-made crochet item for her present, and so I decided to go down the traditional route and make her a scarf to get her through the winter months. It looks tricky, but this pattern is actually really simple, and I made this scarf within 1 evening!
Skills needed:
.Half treble crochet (HTC) yarn over twice, hook through loop, pull through, yarn over, pull through two loops, pull through three remaining loops.
. Single crochet (sc)
. Shell stitch: two HTCs into one stitch, two single crochet, two more HTCs to give 'shell' like shape.
. Chain stitch
. Sc 26
. Turn, chain 4
. Row One: HTC into each stitch until end
. Turn, chain 4
. Row Two: HTC into 5th stich from hook, leave 2 stitches, shell into next stich, leave 2, HTC into next stitch. Repeat until end of row.
. Turn, chain 4
. Row 3: shell into hole in shell stitch below, HTC into stitch above HTC stitch below, shell into hole of next below shell stitch, repeat until end.
. Repeat these two lines until end of scarf.
. For final row. HTC into each stitch. Finish off.
And that's it! You should have a lovely scarf that looks difficult but is actually really easy and quick. I used chunky wool and a 5mm hook, but you could use thinner for a more delicate scarf or wrap for summer.
